Tamaka, Kolar, Karnataka Dr G Pradeep Kumar a forensic pathologist by training; graduate from Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal and post-graduate in Forensic Medicine from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He also holds a diploma in Criminology & Criminal Law from Annamalai University. He has vast experience of over 37 years in various academic positions commencing his career at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in 1985.

He is an educationist at heart, a passionate believer in continuous reforms in teaching and evaluation process. He was a key contributor in curriculum development for the University of Katmandu while he was on deputation to Manipal College of Medical Sciences, Pokhara, Nepal in 1998.

He served as the Consulting Forensic Pathologist for the Commonwealth of Bahamas for a period of two years and was instrumental in empowering the police officers at Royal Bahamas Police College, Bahamas and law graduates at the Royal College of Bahamas on the application of forensic pathology for justice. During his tenure as Dean, he brought in several academic reforms and streamlined the curriculum and evaluation process for the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He was associated with the accreditations of the various regulatory bodies during his tenure as the director of quality and compliance of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal.

He is a fellow of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine and has contributed for the growth of the academy for over three decades and was conferred Haq & Bose Life-Time Achievement Fellowship


He has, to his credit, innumerable publication of scientific papers in national and international journals and presentations at regional, national and international conferences. He has been a resource person for various national and international conferences, CMEs & workshops.

Dr Pradeep strongly believes that it’s the social responsibility of every teacher to train a competent, compassionate and caring health care provider who could safeguard the healthcare needs of the society. He is a staunch believer that a robust evaluation drives meaningful learning.

He joined Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research as Vice Chancellor in March 2019.
