Dr. K. Prabhakar assumed the post of the Principal of Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Tamaka, Kolar, Karnataka on 17th April 2023.
He assumed the post of the Dean, Faculty of Medicine of Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research, Tamaka, Kolar, Karnataka, on 27th May 2023.
Dr. K. Prabhakar completed his post-graduation in Medicine from Government Medical College, Bellary in 1992. Thereafter, he joined Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar as a Lecturer and has been serving the institution, since. He headed the department of Medicine from 2015 to 2018. He completed his Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Endocrinology and Diabetes from Royal College Of Physicians, United kingdom. He has guided 34 postgraduate students. He is a keen researcher and is involved in many scientific research projects. He has more than a hundred publications to his credit, in National and International journals of repute. He has been the faculty and speaker in various National, State level and International conferences. He is a life member of several Medical Societies and Associations. He is the current Vice-President of API-Kolar chapter, Vice-President of IMA-Kolar branch, Central council member for IMA-Karnataka, Present President in API -KOLAR chapter, Karnataka. He was awarded the AFISC (Associate fellow of Indian Society of Cardiology) in Oct 2007, the FIAMS (Fellow of Institute of medical sciences) in 2010 and the MNAMS (Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences) in 2010.
